I am really taking advantage of this warm winter we’re having in Florida. I mean it was 85 degrees today! I wore a tank top and shorts today, people! Even when I was living in LA, it was never this warm during the holidays. I’ve been going to the beach on the weekends to get my tan on and also to explore the many beaches Tampa Bay has to offer.
do you want to build a “sand”man?
St. Pete Beach
Shephard’s Beach Resort on Clearwater Beach
If you like the bar and club party scene, your best bet is Clearwater Beach. It’s become a bit of a tourist trap (hello traffic), probably because it was named one of America’s best beach towns. The beach was super crowded. Finding free parking was out of the question, so I parked at the Hyatt parking structure right along the beach. There was plenty of parking and it was only a few dollars. The sand was super soft and white, but had a lot of seaweed when I went.
If you’re low-key and like peace and quiet, head to St. Pete Beach. It’s a little bit removed from the tourist areas, but still has a good vibe with hotspots like Ka’tiki and Caddy’s on the Beach, which actually was a filming location for the first Magic Mike.
If you like a little bit of both, try Treasure Island or nearby Madeira Beach. The beaches aren’t as crowded or dirty as others. They are still touristy but have an old town charm. Although don’t go to Treasure Island if you want soft sand. It’s hard as a rock and is covered in shells. A beach chair would be a must here.
Although I gotta say, the sunsets are pretty much incredible at any beach on the coast. #loveFL
