I love the little nooks and crannies you can find while walking through downtown LA. I think this was a bank? Even though my commute is awful, I feel a bit lucky to be working downtown. It was recently named America’s next great city (Thanks GQ!).
The area is truly booming. Award shows and movie premieres are at LA Live on the regular. Almost all of the major concerts are at the Staples Center. The Kings, Lakers, and Clippers play there too. Dodger Stadium is only a couple miles from there. I’ve even seen the nightlife scene surge in the past year or so. The Standard is the new IT spot. Who doesn’t love rooftop pools and ping pong rooms? There’s even a revitalization in the fashion district, especially with the new Urban Outfitters and Ace Hotel. Don’t even get me started on the fabulous food and drink spots too (Bottega Louie, Mo-Chica, Mas Malo). But in the end, it’s no Manhattan. The public transportation system is not even close to convenient, or safe for that matter. Looks like it’s traffic and no parking for us!
